Luxury Wellness On The Jersey Shore

Walking into The Reeds at Shelter Haven in Stone Harbor, NJ, it’s hard to imagine that you are only a three-hour drive or so from New York City. The boutique luxury bay front property and beach town magically transport you to a place that beats a little slower and does not seem to belong in the Tristate area.

Sitting at the southern end of the shore in Cape May County, the very walkable charming town of Stone Harbor just outside The Reeds’ doors boasts restaurants, cute shops, and a magnificent beach only a few blocks away. The property offers high-level service and amenities, with a staff always ready with a smile. With the new Salt Spa opening, The Reeds—the flagship property of Refined Hospitality—is gearing up for a busy off season. Ron Gorodesky, Refined’s managing director and president, explains a quieter guest experience awaits visitors with the same beautiful views during the off-season. Stone Harbor typically grows from less than 1,000 residents in the shoulder season to nearly 25,000 in the warmer months.

THE NEW SPA
Gorodesky continued to explain it’s “the most comprehensive full-service luxury spa in Southern New Jersey.” The spa offers six treatment rooms, including a couples’ massage room, and a Relaxation Lounge. Treatments are also given in the Turkish Bath, and Soft Pack Float which combines exfoliation and light water submersion. The Brine Lounge offers guests soothing music, light therapy, and a mist from the brine waterfall to truly relax following treatments. The Hair + Makeup Studio with a blow-out bar, the Bridal Studio and the Nail Studio are ideal for bridal and bachelor/bachelorette parties and girlfriend getaways. The new building also includes a fully equipped Fitness Center with 24-hour access for all guests, as well as a boutique.

The Reeds also features two-night spa packages—perfect for romantic getaways, baby-moons, and girls’ getaways—that include accommodations, treatments, and resort dining credit.

ACTIVITIES
The opening of Salt Spa expands on the hotel’s existing wellness programming of daily yoga classes, a plunge pool, and two hot tubs on the Roof Garden lounge area during the summer. Also available then are complimentary paddle boarding and kayaking on the bay. Other seasonal offerings include complimentary beach butler service mid-May to early October featuring roundtrip transfers via electric car to the beach. Also included are beach tags, chair, towel, umbrella service, bottled water and ices. The Reeds has partnered with Stone Harbor Golf Club for tee times on the 18-hole course year-round.

DINING ON THE SHORE
The Reeds boasts an abundance of choice dining with five restaurants (depending on the time of year). SAX with an international menu and the Stone Harbor Pizza Pub, a casual option, features local craft brews; both are open year-round. Seasonal dining options on-site include the bay front Water Star Grille featuring an outdoor deck and lively bar plus an indoor room with a view. Don’t miss the fun Buckets Margarita Bar & Cantina with live music, and the decadent Wafflewich Ice Cream and Waffle Shop.
