Adellco, Hill West Architects, and Jacques Garcia have teamed up to give us the d’Orsay, a boutique luxury condo offering 21 residences from one to four bedrooms including a townhouse and penthouse. Located on the Chelsea side of 14th Street at 7th Avenue the location is superb. There has been a transformation of this area of 14th Street with new high-end retail, fine dining, and culture. It is also close to the Meatpacking District and Union Square.
INTERIORS
In this 11-story development, we have loft-style units with lovely open layouts (kitchen/dining/living rooms). Most units offer direct access from the elevator. Ceiling heights range from 9’3” to 14”. Large casement style windows allow for great light in the residences and have a higher sound attenuation rating than required code, so the spaces are tranquil. Above the 6th floor, there are fantastic views of Downtown Manhattan, Hudson Yards as well as splendid water views. Many units have outdoor spaces, and some units have gas fireplaces.
The kitchens have light warm-hued integrated cabinetry with high-end appliances including Bosch, Sharp, and Liebherr with signature fixtures. Larger units come with a wet bar in the kitchen. The Bosch washer/dryer is a standard feature in all units.
The master baths have the floor to ceiling marble on all walls, a wet room with rain shower head and a nice “niche” factor. The deep soaking tub is encased in marble, and the custom medicine cabinet is beautiful with outlets inside making the baths exquisite with simple, subtle lines. Signature fixtures also grace the master baths.
The penthouse unit is exceptional with a wall of windows facing south with a long terrace. Even the kitchen enjoys this wall of windows as it is part of the open layout. There is a fireplace in the great room with a wet bar. The penthouse rooftop outdoor space has a kitchen, another gas fireplace, and has a reinforced section that can support a hot tub if the owner wants one.
AMENITIES
Exceptional amenities at d’Orsay include a 24-hour doorman, full time super/porter, and a 2,000-square-foot fitness center with a skylight. Also, included is spa with plunge pool, steam room and treatment room, resident lounge, common rooftop for residents with barbecue, bike storage, cold storage, and additional storage for purchase.
RECAP
The d’Orsay is a great new offering by Adellco and Hill West Architects. Jacques Garcia has done an excellent job with the open interiors and design details. The location is perfect, and light and views score high marks with oversized casement-style windows. For a boutique offering, there are a host of excellent amenities, and excellent flow in the layouts. This is a development to keep in mind.
