EASY IDEAS TO UPDATE ANY SPACE

Now is the perfect time to update your space. And it’s easy! Year after year, new and exciting home interior trends are always evolving. This year is no exception with lots of dramatic changes to create an inviting and comfortable home.

As a real estate agent, I pride myself on knowing not only what’s happening in the real estate market, but also the top design trends. This knowledge enables me to serve my clients in a full capacity. Visiting open houses, touring new developments, and one-on-one with designer colleagues has sharpened my skills tremendously.

As Sondra Rose, Senior Sales & Design Associate, of DZINENY Home Interiors says, “Our homes should reflect our style, our passions, and our joie de vivre. Located in the D&D Building, DZINENY prides itself in innovative design aesthetic and an unrelenting desire to spread style and inspiration. “Our brands derive from the Italian world and have crossed over from fashion to the home,” she explains. “We bring vintage back and mix it with our rock and roll vibes. We relentlessly and incessantly mix metals and fuse life into all of our unique and bespoke projects.”

Here, some fabulous ideas that are sure to enliven your home.

BE BOLD
Out with the white and in with bold and bright colors like blue, red, purple, and more. Pantone’s color of the year is ultra violet. Why not incorporate this hue into your design. Go ahead, push yourself to come up with a creative strategy. Go big with furniture that makes a statement or if you don’t want to be overly committed, use accessories like rugs or throw pillows. Use patterns and accessories that complement each other. However, keep in mind that although bold colors may be fashionable this year, they can become overwhelming when not done right. Try to incorporate neutral shades into your design as a background.

IN WITH THE OLD
From fashion to home décor, vintage has always been popular and it looks like it’s here to stay! Vintage accessories add character to your design. You’ll never go wrong by adding some vintage pieces as they bring a sense of uniqueness and comfort to any space. An excellent piece of vintage furniture can transform your living room, home office or kitchen to anything but average. Just don’t overdo it. Make sure it flows and makes sense. Combine old with the new and remember, you can never be out of date when using vintage.

METAL FINISHES
Copper, brass, gold and black nickel from your kitchen to the furniture are now being used interchangeably, and I’m obsessed with every bit of it. You can use metal finishes in all areas of the house! Beyond your kitchen, use these finishes on lighting, bathroom fixtures but be sure each finish complements the type of metal to help visually pull them together. Make it the central piece of your design.

A WELL-ROUNDED LOOK
Curves have made a comeback—and I’m not complaining. Curved furniture adds softness and a nice flow to any room. You can even go big by placing this furniture in the middle of a room and making it the focal point. Curved furnishings can help open up spaces, while softening the hard edges in a room. In response to this theory, a recent Oregon State University study revealed the impact different furniture had on people. It showed that compared to hard-line furniture, curvy furniture evokes a feeling of positivity and relaxation.

RESORT-LIKE FEEL
These days it’s all about feeling pampered and refreshed. Why not add the feeling of a favorite resort or spa—and bring it back home. With this in mind, we’re seeing more emphasis on resort-style spa bathrooms, such as standing tubs, rain shower heads, and lighting fixtures that replicate a spa.

Another trend designers are using is using material to cover the entire bathroom. If done right, using one element can turn an average space into something special. You can go bold and use graphic patterns or simple, opting for softer tones of color and materials. Go with what makes you feel happy.

While no one expects you to make major changes to your home year after year, stay on top of the interior design game by creating just one change that can make a home feel renewed.
