Both fans of Marvel Universe fans and Scarlett Johansson have been waiting for this one for more than a year, and now the Black Widow is storming into movie theaters as one of summer 2021’s big blockbusters. She’s joined by Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh, and David Harbour in this female-centric comic book action flick directed by Cate Shortland. Of course, those who are still shy of moviegoing can see it on Disney+, too.

THE GREEN KNIGHT

Dev Patel stars in this flashy, action-packed retelling of Sir Gawain, one of the King Arthur English myth knights that continues to live on. In this visually exciting modern retelling, Gawain searches for the Green Knight, who brings a massive size and a dollop of terror to this medieval fantasy. Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton and Sarita Choudhury costar.

JUNGLE CRUISE

Join two of the world’s biggest stars on this Jungle Cruise as Emily Blunt, and Dwayne Johnson set sail in a live-action version of the venerable Disneyland adventure ride. They’re on the Amazon River searching for a healing tree while some evil-doers chase after them, making for adventurous happenings and wild rides. Jesse Plemons, Paul Giamatti, and Edgar Ramirez join in the fun, which also breaks on Disney+ in late July.

REMINISCENCE

Hugh Jackman goes dark and gritty in this otherworldly thriller from the hand of Lisa Joy, who is best known as the executive producer of HBO’s Westworld. Joy writes, directs, and produces this tale that follows a private investigator down a dangerous path. Rebecca Ferguson and Thandiwe Newton costar in this action-packed flick.

SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY

It’s been 25 years since NBA great Michael Jordon teamed up with Bugs Bunny and the rest of Looney Tunes to make Space Jam, that much-loved classic blend of basketball, animation, and live-action comedy. Now LeBron James steps into Jordan’s big shoes to bring a whole new generation into the wild action and silly moments that always happen when Bugs Bunny is around.

THE SUICIDE SQUAD

This DC Comics reboot of the 2016 flick known as Suicide Squad still stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller; otherwise, this is a whole new adventure with a new set of supervillains. Look for Idris Elba, John Cena, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, and Sylvester Stallone in this crazy melding of dark comedy and over-the-top action.

There’s a new Boss Baby in this rollicking sequel to the popular 2017 animated feature that’s all about a precocious baby and the family that deals with this diaper-wearing dynamo. Alec Baldwin, Jimmy Kimmel, and Lisa Kudrow lend their voices once again, along with James Marsden, Amy Sedaris, and Eva Longoria in this family-friendly adventure comedy.

Back for a fourth trip to the big screen, Hotel Transylvania keeps banking on youngsters’ love for an animated Dracula who runs a very weird hotel. And while a new actor (Brian Hull) replaces Adam Sandler as the bloodsucking vampire, Selena Gomez, Kathryn Hahn, and Andy Samberg return to keep their oddball character’s stories rolling. Unfortunately, rumor has it this will be the last movie in the hugely popular franchise.
