Indecent is inspired by the actual events surrounding the controversial 1923 Broadway debut of Sholem Asch’s God of Vengeance—a play seen by some as a seminal work of Jewish culture and others an act of traitorous libel. This Tony-award winner charts the history of an incendiary drama and the path of the artists who risked their careers and lives to perform it.

Starring the legendary Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones, the story follows Miss Daisy Werthan, a widowed, 72-year-old Jewish woman living in mid-century Atlanta who is deemed too old to drive by her son Boolie. Enter Hoke Colburn to serve as her chauffeur. What begins as a troubled and hostile pairing soon blossoms into a profound, life-altering friendship that transcends all the societal boundaries placed between them.
