ON THE BIG SCREEN

FOR ADULTS ONLY

MARLOWE
R
Liam Neeson playing detective Philip Marlowe in a new take on Raymond Chandler’s iconic L.A. detective? You had us at “Hello”! Add in two-time Academy Award winner Jessica Lange and Diane Kruger, as well as Oscar-winning director Neil Jordan and Oscar-winning screenwriter William Monahan and this 1930s hardboiled detective flick has all the makings of a big winner.

COCAINE BEAR
R
Elizabeth Banks directs this whacked out comedy-drama about a bear who inadvertently ingests a massive quantity of cocaine and goes loco in the woods. And the crazy thing is, it’s based on a true story! She’s assembled a great cast for this weird romp, including real-life couple Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, along with Margo Martindale, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and (sad to see) the late Ray Liotta in one of his last roles.

KNOCK AT THE CABIN
R
Get ready to shiver as M. Night Shyamalan brings his latest horror thriller (he wrote and directed) to the big screen. This one’s a tale of the apocalypse and how it affects one family that thought they were just taking a vacation in a secluded cabin. Instead, their choices will affect the fate of the entire world. No pressure, right? Dave Bautista, Rupert Grint and youngster Kristen Cui star in this chilling thriller.

MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE
R
Magic Mike is back yet again, with Steven Soderbergh back at the helm, Channing Tatum shirtless once again and Salma Hayek along as the gorgeous female lead. What’s the plot? Does anyone really care? We’re just sad that Joe Manganiello isn’t back in the cast of this third go-round in the ongoing story of male strippers and their deep problems.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA
Not yet rated
Our favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe hero is back, as Paul Rudd returns as Ant-Man in this third installment about the tiny superhero. Evangeline Lilly is back as well as The Wasp, with Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas and Bill Murray cashing those big paychecks from Marvel as well. What’s the plot? Everyone ends up in the Quantum Realm, and (let us guess) the movie ends with a huge fight scene.
