Early Spring Wish List

By Melanie Carden

Here in the Northeast, March weather can be relentless as winter and spring wrestle for control of the forecast. So, we toggle between dreary and delightful, as things (hopefully) start to thaw, and we get the occasional glimpse of warmer weather on the horizon. With all this top-of-mind, here’s a collection of things to help us rally through the last days of winter—some hydration, aromatherapy, and a little travel inspiration too, in case you just need a little adventure.

SCENTLY SERENITY
A reed diffuser is an effortless way to add some 24/7 aromatherapy to your home—without the worry of a flame to tend to. LAFCO New York’s Marine scent is the perfect seaside scent with its salty jasmine aroma. Info: lafco.com

LUXE TUX JOGGER
These Splendid brand Mariella pants are the unicorn among the ever-popular jogger trend. The color and weight are perfect for moderate temperatures—March in NY or a beachside resort. Plus, the luxe tuxedo stripe pairs well with a dressier sandal.

ESCHEW WINTER’S WRATH
Bakuchiol is a plant-based retinol-alternative, so it’s gentle on sensitive skin. But this Farmhouse Fresh face butter is also my go-to for deep hydration. And, yes, these microgreens-based formulas begin on an actual farm! Info: farmhousefreshgoods.com

CHAMOIS CHIC
When the weather feels raw and damp, there’s nothing better than the feathery feel of chamois. This cozy Royal Robins work shirt is ready for anything from hiking to grabbing a bite at the pub.

PLAY THE CHARD CARD
VAHY is committed to a “no nasties” policy. So much so, the natural fragrance house lists over 30 chemicals banned from their ingredients lists. So, if you need an end of winter pick-me-up, I suggest one of their six-piece perfume sample sets.

HUMIDIFIER FOR HIRE
The dry winter air is tough on skin and can aggravate dust allergies. But this Canopy humidifier goes beyond hydrated air by offering an optional clean scent diffusion disk. So, you’ll get the health benefits and a lighthearted lift of fragrance. Info: getcanopy.co

PLAY DAY BOUQUET
I love to hunker down with a puzzle on a rainy day. And my husband and I recently tackled a 2,000-piece Lego project; and oh-my-goodness, what fun! This 756-piece flower bouquet is great for an afternoon of wine and whimsy. Info: lego.com

HAIR HYDRATION
The air’s dry; your skin’s dry. And, yes, your hair might need a little end-of-winter TLC too. Maria Nila’s Swedish haircare formulas address challenges like damaged, oily, or flat hair. Plus, the Structure Repair collection works wonders on menopausal tresses too. Info: marianila.com

EQUAL PARTS RESORT
AND ROMANCE

Pop on a pair of tall boots or strappy espadrilles—both pair well with this Gloriosa Flamingo Maggie Dress. So, it’s a versatile, romantic piece that can be layered for a cold city day or styled for breezy island nights.

WAFTS OF WATER LILY
Bring a bit of the outside to make your inner sanctuary a natural environment. Next time, the forecast is rainy, why not cozy up with the glow of Archipelago’s Hamptons candle—a delicate water lily and driftwood scent. It’s a sure way to lift your spirits.

SAILING SALVATION
Maybe you just want to skip town and head to the beach. The Vineyard Vines Cashmere Reverse Birdseye Sweater is ready to keep the elements at bay. Plus, it’s available in seven colors—one for each day of the week, perhaps?

HAIR REPAIR
Eufora is a one-stop mecca for all things hair, but they especially shine in the category of repair. If your hair or scalp is dry or compromised, grab the brand’s Urgent Repair Treatment, Moisture Masque, or Scalp Treatment for thinning hair.
