BARBIE

Even if you aren’t the original Barbie doll generation (like I am), you’ve got to know that director Greta Gerwig has created a live-action Barbie flick that is chockablock with Barbies and Kens, with the laeading two—Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling—perfectly cast. The pink-on-pink design has had fans excited for months, so adding in Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, and Dua Lipa as other Barbies and Simu Liu and John Cena as Kens makes it even more fun.

GRAN TURISMO

This sports biopic tells the unlikely true story of a video-game player named Jann Mardenbrough, who took his virtual driving skills into the real world. As played by Archie Madekwe, this racing action flick traces his rise from Gran Turismo game player to race driver in the Japan Super GT series. Davis Harbour, Orlando Bloom, and Djimon Hounsou join in this unlikely tale of one kid who made it out of his mother’s basement.

HAUNTED MANSION
PG-13
Disney’s latest live-action adaptation of one of their theme-park rides (think The Pirates of the Caribbean) takes the Haunted Mansion to ride into the ghoulish story of a single mom who enlists a collection of ghostly experts to remove the otherworldly wraiths who live in her new mansion. Rosario Dawson leads an all-star cast that includes Jared Leto, Jamie Lee Curtis, Danny DeVito, Tiffany Haddish, Dan Levy, and more.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE
DEAD RECKONING, PART ONE

The MIF team led by Tom Cruise is back, 27 years after the first flick jumped from the classic Mission: Impossible TV show that began in 1966. So, the ongoing story of Ethan Hunt and his team of superspy experts cannot be stopped. This time, movie #7, it’s a two-part movie series as the team chases a weapon that could destroy the world; the second half arrives in theaters in 2024, so get ready to be left with a cliffhanger at the end of this one.

STRAYS
R
While this may sound like a children’s comedy, it’s an R-rated adult raunchy revenge-fest about a neglected collection of stray dogs who band together to help a new abandoned pooch get revenge on his former owner. A mix of live-action and CGI-manipulated talking dogs, this one stars a funny ensemble cast including Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, Sofia Bergara, Isla Fisher, Randall Park, and Will Forte.
