Kaitlyn Dorff

Some may believe that being a singer involves nothing more than getting on stage and belting out a tune. However, if you think about it, making music requires ample creativity, motivation, and determination—the same three ingredients key to being a successful entrepreneur.

This best describes Kaitlyn Dorff, who is no stranger to the music world. Call her the breakout artist of 2023. The talented singer-songwriter recently dropped her new single Next to You, which became this summer’s go-to hit song. Produced by Jason Mater, Next To You was written by Kaitlyn Dorff and Matteo Scher. She told us it is one of her favorite songs. “I wrote it about a person I deeply care about. It’s truly the most honest song I’ve ever written. I wrote it when I was in love with someone who couldn’t have been more different than me. This person was my muse in my young life, and I feel fortunate to have had him and to be able to share my story in hopes that others can connect and relate to,” she explained.

ALL IN THE FAMILY
The talented songwriter has a good pedigree: She’s the daughter of songwriter Hall of Fame inductee-songwriter Steve Dorff. She told us that she credits her dad as the most significant influence in her life. “My dad has always been my biggest supporter and the best teacher I could’ve ever asked for. He’s taught me everything I know about the industry and how to navigate it. I feel like there’s never been a question of what I wanted to do growing up,” she laughed, “I didn’t know anything else.

Dorff is the youngest of three children, including acclaimed actor Stephen and multi-award-winning songwriter Andrew. And because of her “family business” she has appeared in countless plays and musicals and has been singing since childhood. Given her family background, she has maintained consistent exposure and involvement in the entertainment industry.

ON THE SILVER SCREEN
This is just the beginning for the California-born singer-songwriter. Two of Kaitlyn’s songs are featured in the horror film Natty Knocks (Prime). The film stars Danielle Harris and horror legend Robert Englund, featuring songs Still Love Malibu and Wish You Could Stay.

“The movie’s director contacted me after my mom posted my music video on Facebook. They saw my video and called and asked if I could send them some songs. They loved them and wanted them!” she continued to tell us. “My two songs were written at completely different stages in my life. I am incredibly excited to see how they utilize my pop songs in a horror film. Wish You Could Stay was one of the first songs I ever wrote and having it in a movie reminds me to never give up on songs, even if you didn’t think it was your best when you first wrote it.”

She is well on her way to reaching her career goals in the music and entertainment industry! Throughout Kaitlyn’s life, she has appeared in countless plays and musicals and has been singing since childhood. And with her entrepreneur spirit, count on seeing more of Kaitlyn Dorff.
