Please introduce us to who Julie DeLucca-Collins is. Give us insight into your original story.
As a young girl, I always knew I wanted to help others. My grandmother was an incredible influence, instilling in me the importance of giving back and supporting others who needed my help. I started my career as a preschool teacher. I also knew that I wanted more for myself but was not sure what more was. A national educational company recruited me. After my first successful year as the center director of one of their local centers, I was promoted and began climbing the corporate ladder. My journey was enriched by incredible mentors who believed in me and helped me grow as a supervisor, manager, and then Senior Director, overseeing a whole new business line for the company. Through it all, I kept my desire to serve and help others as my driving force.
You’ve stated that your brand name, Go Confidently Services, was inspired by a quote about following your dreams. Tell us more.
My dad introduced me to Henry David Thoreau’s quote, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.” It became my mantra as I navigated my new career in corporate America, ultimately reaching executive and C-suite levels. Throughout the years, I encountered many talented women who struggled with confidence despite their gifts and talents.
You are a certified Tiny Habits Coach and Productivity Expert. What drew you to focus on productivity and tiny habits in your coaching practice?
As a coach, I’ve found that my most effective teaching comes from the areas where I once struggled. Productivity and habits were crucial aspects that I needed to master to gain success. Recognizing their impact on my life, I soon became fascinated and inspired to learn more about them. Soon, I began to see the connection and psychology behind habits and the science of productivity.
How do you define productivity, and what are the critical factors in helping clients overcome their productivity hurdles?
For me, productivity is more than just checking items off a to-do list; it’s about maximizing our actions and efforts with what matters. Productivity is the art of being a high performer, personally and professionally. One of the most common challenges my clients face is second-guessing or procrastination, which often stems from a lack of clarity on what matters or being inspired or fulfilled in their tasks. Overcoming these hurdles is not just about getting things done, but about gaining a sense of accomplishment and moving closer to our goals.
You’ve stated that obtaining your habits and completing your routines leads to an increase in confidence. Explain that concept.
Everyone experiences feeling unsure or lacking confidence sometimes. We might doubt our abilities or feel like we’re not good enough. But we can see progress when we start doing things differently, like creating better habits. It’s like when you learn to ride a bike. At first, it’s hard, but the more you practice, the better you get. That’s where confidence comes in. Confidence and habits go hand in hand.
What is your advice for balancing a need for structure with a need for flexibility?
Balancing structure and flexibility are like finding the right mix of planning and spontaneity in our lives. At first, I thought having a plan and sticking to it would make life boring. But I’ve learned that having structure gives us more freedom to do what we want and love. It’s like having a map to guide us on our journey—we know where we’re going, but we can still take detours along the way.
