Toast The Holidays At The Wall Street Hotel

By Alexandra Anastasio

Perched atop the historic Wall Street Hotel, Bar Tontine offers an unforgettable experience with its 180-degree terrace and sweeping New York City skyline views. The bar’s floor-to-ceiling windows create a stunning backdrop, making it an ideal spot for friends and family to gather, sip on creative cocktails, enjoy light bites, and take in the iconic Manhattan vista.

The interior is just as captivating. From the moment you step into the hotel’s exquisitely designed lobby, you’re welcomed by a sense of sophistication, with every detail, from the light fixtures to the carefully curated sculptures, embodying New York City’s signature style.

CONTEMPORARY CHARM
You will find a cozy yet elegant setting as you enter Bar Tontine on the 15th floor. The traditional home-style decor immediately offers warmth, and friendly hosts are ready to escort you inside.

Paris’s iconic Maison de Verre inspires the bar’s design. It blends the energy of the bustling city outside with the calm, inviting ambiance within. The space balances modern industrial elements with timeless charm and touches of nature, offering a serene escape from the urban rush.

Named “Best Hotel in New York City” in its debut year by Travel + Leisure’s 2023, The Wall Street Hotel brings sophistication to the Financial District. Bar Tontine, situated in the former Tontine Coffee House building, honors its heritage while seamlessly merging old-world charm with a contemporary New York City vibe.

CREATIVE TWISTS
Each participating bar brought its distinctive flair, paying tribute to its locale and New York City’s vibrant beverage scene. The series kicked off with Cartagena’s El Barón, followed by London’s Three Sheets, Washington D.C.’s Silver Lyan, and concluded with the Cayman Islands’ Door No. 4. David Sandler, General Manager of The Wall Street Hotel, described the program as a tribute to the rich history and culture of cocktails in the heart of New York City.

I enjoyed attending the final installment. I savored the Caribbean Café cocktail, a delightful blend of Bacardi Coconut, Disaronno, and Mr. Black Espresso—a creative twist on the classic espresso martini. I also enjoyed a non-alcoholic option from the menu, the Non #1 Sparkling Rose, made with salted raspberry and chamomile. This paired perfectly with their Sunset Fries (truffle, herbs, and parmesan) and the Planche de Charcuterie.

Bar Tontine is open Wednesday through Friday from 4 to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 to 10 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome at the bar, but reservations are recommended for dining.
