A THOUSAND BLOWS
Hulu
From the creator of Peaky Blinders comes another very English series, this one set in London’s bare-fisted brawling parlors circa 1880. Based on real people (as was Peaky Blinders), this bloody tale centers on two Black Jamaican fighters who emigrate to the Big Smoke and get embroiled in the criminal gangs of the tough-as-nails East End. Malachi Kelly, Erin Doherty, Stephen Graham, and Francis Lovehall star.

THE HUNTING PARTY
NBC
Based on the premise that the USA has a top-secret prison filled with stone-cold killers, this new network series focuses on the detectives pulled together to track them down. For they have pulled an audacious escape and are on the loose, which doesn’t bode well for the general populace. Created by relative newcomer JJ Bailey and starring Melissa Roxburgh and Nick Wechsler as the lead investigators out to bring these bad guys to justice, the show is one of the few truly new series launches in network TV that’s come out lately.

ZERO DAY
Netflix
It’s the day that 81-year-old Robert De Niro becomes a TV-series star, as this political thriller hits Netflix and marks the acclaimed actor’s first time as a lead actor in a show. It’s great to know that there’s no reason to retire when people still want you to work, as De Niro proves every day, this time in a story that rips ideas from the headlines that are chillingly close to what could be our reality. A stellar cast backs up the master, including Angela Bassett, Jesse Plemons, Connie Britton, Joan Allen, and Lizzy Caplan.

THEY’RE BACK!! YOUR FAVORITE SERIES RETURNs

SUITS LA
NBC
When Suits first aired on USA Network from 2011 to 2019, it was a successful show that starred a future princess of the British royal family (Meagan Markle) along with Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams. But then Netflix got hold of it and sent it to the stratosphere in viewing popularity. So now the show is back, set in Los Angeles and starring a new group of attorneys led by Ted Black (Stephen Amell), in the show created by Aaron Korsh, the mind behind the original series. And Gabriel Macht returns as well. But don’t expect to see Meghan Markle suited up again any time soon!

THE WHITE LOTUS
HBO/MAX
We may have lost Jennifer Coolidge (sob!) in Season 2, but The White Lotus returns after a three-year break with Mike White still at the helm. This time the twisted tale takes place during an eventful week at a Thailand resort, with an all-star cast of characters. Watch for Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Michelle Monaghan, and Parker Posey to lead the female contingent, and Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, and Patrick Schwarzenegger as the men who help set the wheels in motion. After winning 15 Emmys in the first two, this season should be deliciously hot – and deadly.
