WOMEN IN CHARGE

THE ABANDONS
Netflix
Showrunner/creator Kurt Sutter leaves modern motorcycle gangs behind and heads into the Wild West in this series based in the 1850s. He’s also focusing on matriarchs this time, with two very different women leading pioneer families in the wilds of the Washington Territory and clashing with each other. Gillian Anderson leads the wealthy Van Ness faction, while Lena Headey controls the more ragtag, but forceful Nolans in a place where murder and brutality rule the day. It’s the far West of the emerging United States, in a time when anything goes. Which woman prevails? Tune in to find out.

ALL’S FAIR
Hulu
If you buy into the idea of Kim Kardashian as a high-powered divorce attorney (who apparently wears skirts cut up to the top of her thigh in court), then “All’s Fair” is the new Ryan Murphy show for you. She leads a pack of women with law degrees who get fed up with the male-dominated law firm norm and decide to hang out their own all-woman shingle. If the acting credentials of her co-stars are any sign of success, this one may have the Midas touch, as Glenn Close, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash, Sarah Paulson and Teyana Talor make up the cabal of women in power.

PLURIBUS
Apple TV+
Vince Gilligan, the man behind “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul,” has taken his fertile mind into a science-fiction future with “Pluribus,” and made a woman the protagonist of his vision. Rhea Seehorn stars in this series that he conceived, wrote, directed, produced and runs the whole show, so if you like his twisted multiple Emmy Award-winning sensibilities, this one’s likely to make your day. Gilligan is no stranger to sci-fi, for he wrote 30 episodes of “The X-Files” back in the day, and produced 127 of them, so look for a lot of mysterious happenings in this 10-episode series.

DOCUMENTARY HISTORIES

THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
PBS
Documentarian Ken Burns is back, this time focusing on “The American Revolution” with a six-part series that takes a deep dive into how 13 British colonies took on the British Empire and won their independence. He’s enlisted a who’s who of actors, including those of American, British, African and Native American descent, to use their vocal talents bring to life the memories of people who were actually there. So listen for Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Kenneth Branagh, Claire Danes, Samuel L. Jackson, Jon Proudstar and host of others to help tell the story of America’s beginnings.

TAYLOR SWIFT THE ERAS TOUR:
END OF AN ERA

Disney +
Taylor Swift is a complete force of nature, as she keeps proving over and over again. With this six-part documentary series, she brings her legion of fans into her private world, showing just what happened in her life as The Eras Tour went on for almost two years, in 51 cities across the globe. The highest grossing music tour of all time, it was also the time that she met Travis Kelce and began the relationship that changed her world. This series is bound to break records, too, as Swifties around the world tune in to see what happened off the Eras stages.
