Haute Travel – The Ultimate ‘See And Be Seen’ Destinations for 2026

By Jon Salas

Like fashion and fine dining, travel also follows a heat map of trending destinations - some inspired by pop culture moments like White Lotus and ‘For You Page’ trends, others by social circle patterns and industry accolades like ‘World’s 50 Best.’ Every year you can count on some new emerging and mainstay destinations to top our travel wish lists and this year is no different. And the beautiful thing about being a New Yorker is that we’re usually only a direct flight away. Here’s a rundown of a few spots to have on your radar where if you’re not going, you’ll certainly be hearing about someone who is in 2026.

CAP CANA –
THE CARIBBEAN’S NEWEST GEM

In a sea of idyllic isles, Capa Cana has quickly emerged as the Caribbean’s new ‘It’ destination for the jet set and travelers looking for a slice of paradise in an exclusive setting with privacy and premium offerings. The newly opened St. Regis Cap Cana Resort alone is a gem not to be missed – newly opened in 2025, the property has become an attraction in and of itself with a unique design that pays homage to Dominican culture via its tapestries, materials and colors. Its swim up rooms and luxury amenities are exactly what you would expect from the luxury hospitality brand in the middle of the Dominican island. And with world class golfing, pristine beaches, and luxury amenities, expect Cap Cana to be 2026’s hottest Caribbean destination. The cherry on top is that flights from New York are less than four hours long.

ENGELBERG –
THE APRÈS SKI DESTINATION

For those that are fans of snow, nestled in the middle of the Swiss mountains is the Alpine village of Engelberg which has become Switzerland’s latest most trending destination. Only a short drive south of Zurich, which counts with multiple straight flights from both Newark and JFK, Engelberg has become the new St. Moritz for today’s luxury thrill seekers, providing world-class skiing in a quaint and charming village setting that instantly transports you to a story-tale setting. At the center of the town lies the Kempinski Palace, a 5-star luxury hotel that blends historic Belle Époque architecture with modern elegance, offering premium rooms, a rooftop infinity pool, spa, fine dining and direct access to slopes that have been the backdrop setting to 007 Bond high-speed adventures. While the masses will be flocking to Milan for the Olympics, the true ‘in the know’ winter crowd will be boarding a direct flight to East Switzerland.

SEOUL –
THE NEW EPICENTER OF STYLE

Maybe it’s K-Beauty or Squid Games and K-Dramas, or the combination of both paired with South Korea’s attention to detail and appreciation for art and culture, but there’s no denying that Seoul has become Asia’s hottest destination. South Korea’s affinity for luxury details and fine attention to service has elevated the country’s premium offerings which in result is attracting city-seeking travellers who want to experience culture, haute cuisine, avant garde style and design in an electrifying metropolis that balances high speed with tranquillity. Nowhere is that more seen than within the walls of the Josun Palace, a Luxury Collection hotel in the middle of the city’s Gangnam neighborhood. A visual paradox, the ‘palace in the sky’ tower marries traditional design with modern amenities creating a refined experience for travelers. Centrally located to the city’s shopping scene, it’s where the ‘see and be seen’ crowd goes to rest or to enjoy a Sunday brunch with a side of fashionable people watching. While on the longer side, Seoul is technically only one direct flight away.

WEST PALM BEACH –
A WELLNESS OASIS IN THE FLORIDA
RIVIERA

For a much closer upscale retreat that’s less than three hours away, West Palm Beach has crowned itself as the crown jewel of Florida’s Riviera. West Palm Beach is a mainstay destination that for years has been the go-to for those that seek sunshine and relaxation but what has continued to solidify WPB’s relevance as a must visit is its recent emergence as a cultural capital for wellness. Attracting worldwide gatherings and health conferences such as the Eudemonia Summit, West Palm is now a health-seekers go-to destination and nowhere is this more visible than in the offerings from the hotels and resorts in the area. Whether it be the Four Seasons Spa or the wellness center at The Breakers, the seaside city has no shortage of health offerings that target all health areas. You’ll have no problem finding whatever your focus area is – whether it be holistic therapy or a Scandinavian sauna experience, or perhaps as simple as yoga with a side of IV, West Palm Beach is redefining what ‘recharging’ means.

Other honorable mentions include a visit to the hotel on a cliff, Rock House in Turks and Caicos, where you can rest and swim in what is globally regarded as one of the world’s best beaches. And for those that can’t resist the itch to head to Northern Italy during an Olympic year, the necklace of lake-side towns around Lake Como will certainly be a hotspot throughout the year, especially as the region welcomes the latest EDITION Hotel property. And for those that are craving a relaxing culinary escape, the Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo in Manzanillo, Mexico has become a can’t miss destination that has been attracting the world’s A-List since its opening in 2022.

So, whether you’re in the mood for something far or near, high energy or low key, there’s a destination waiting for you this 2026. Step one, book your trip; and step two, stay tuned for next month’s style advice as ‘the look’ you pack is also part of the adventure.
