SERIOUS CRIMES

CUPERTINO
CBS
From the creators of “The Good Wife” comes a new legal drama, set in the hotbed of criminal behavior known as Silicon Valley. This one’s all about two attorneys (one Black male, one white female) whose careers have been blown up by the big tech companies, who band together in a new firm to fight for the rights of the “average” employees working in NoCal. Mike Colter and Rachel Keller co-star.

NCIS: NEW YORK
CBS
We know you love “NCIS,” and so do the producers. So why not take a chance on a NYC version, with LL Cool J in the lead, as a transfer from the now defunct “NCIS: Los Angeles”? He’s ready to go, back in his character’s hometown, with a new team and new stories to tell. Scott Caan and Jennifer Beals are part of this new iteration, the eighth show in the ever-present U.S. Naval criminal investigative service canon.

NOCTURNE
Apple TV
This tense, dark story follows an ex-FBI agent turned detective (Liev Schreiber) who tries to find a quieter life. But that’s not happening in this adaptation of the bestselling Joona Linna novels by Swedish team Lars Kepler, as a serial killer (Stephen Graham) intrudes on his peaceful existence. With Zazie Beetz and Chrissy Metz rounding out the power cast, this one ranks as must-watch TV.

COMICAL CRIMES

TIP TOE
Starz
Sometimes, criminal behavior can be funny, in a dark comedy sort of way, which is what Alan Cumming and David Morrissey bring us in “Tip Toe.” It’s a slightly twisted story of neighbors living in Manchester, England, who perhaps have lived too close for too long. As tempers flare and drag queens wander through, this suburban tale turns into a slightly surreal and often funny mess of crimes against what were once friends

PHONY
Hulu
Coming from the creator of “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On,” we know that “Phony” is bound to be charming, funny, weird and then some. This one’s a live-action series starring Connie Britton and Sam Nivola as mother and son, which turns into a mystery with criminal overtones as he is struck by a car. What happened, who his mother actually is and many more questions make this dark comedy a series to remember.
