Malan Breton’S New Chapter

Designer Bids Farewell To New York With His SS27 Collection

By Lillian Langtry

For celebrated fashion designer Malan Breton, New York Fashion Week marked more than the unveiling of a new collection. It represented the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another, as the internationally recognized designer presented his Spring/Summer 2027 collection, Le Jardin des Mille Demains, or Garden of a Thousand Tomorrows, at Sony Hall. Blending couture craftsmanship, cinematic storytelling and live performance, the presentation served as both a celebration of Breton’s creative journey and a farewell to New York before the next phase of his career takes him to Rome.

A GARDEN OF NEW BEGINNINGS
Known for refined elegance, meticulous tailoring and an artistic approach to fashion, Breton has built a career spanning more than three decades. His work extends beyond the runway into film, television, theater, music and performance, reflecting an enduring fascination with the relationship between fashion and the arts.

With more than 100 international awards and honors, Breton has earned recognition from leading fashion publications, including British Vogue, which once described him as “The Most Influential Designer You’ve Never Heard Of.”

His latest women’s and men’s collection continued that creative tradition, drawing inspiration from the concept of renewal and the possibilities that accompany change.

The evening opened with a short film directed by Breton and shot in London, where he originally learned tailoring. Nominated for two London Fashion Film Festival awards, the film introduced the collection’s central themes through a meditation on time and transformation.

Featuring a King Seiko timepiece, the cinematic presentation explored the idea that every passing second offers another opportunity for a new beginning.

FASHION MEETS PERFORMANCE
The runway presentation paid tribute to Breton’s creative influences while welcoming familiar faces from previous shows.

Among those appearing were Carmit Bachar and Jessica Sutta of The Pussycat Dolls, performer Peppermint, known for Netflix’s *Survival of the Thickest*, and actress and model Mimi Tao.

The evening reached its finale with a special performance by iconic house music artist Crystal Waters, whose appearance brought another dimension of entertainment to the celebration.

The production also featured contributions from Leviev Diamonds, House of Monroe millinery, beauty artist Odilis Trinidad, and lead hairstylist Joseph DiMaggio for Pomo and Rica Haircare. Andrew Winans directed the runway presentation, with styling by M Frazier.

AN ELEGANT FAREWELL
For Breton, the Spring/Summer 2027 presentation was as much about looking forward as reflecting on the past.

As he prepares to continue his creative journey in Rome, *Garden of a Thousand Tomorrows* captures the spirit of reinvention that has characterized his multidisciplinary career.

The New York finale offered a fitting reminder that fashion is not simply about what comes next on the runway, but also about the imagination and artistry that make new beginnings possible.
